Modern Entertainment
It is amazing how well "they" have figured out how well to manipulate our emotions... I watch a movie as simple as Transformers, and at various times I feel the urge to cry or to cheer... It is manipulation at it's best. The music, the girl, whatever it may be that draws that out of us, people have figured it out, and now we're the ones that have to deal with the consequence of this social manipulation. I don't know how I should feel about it, I enjoy the movies, but at the same time I know I'm being programmed by everything I see to feel a certain way, whatever way "they" want me to feel. That is something, I personally, I am uncomfortable with. I'm not trying to dissuade you from watching the movies you love, but be aware when you do watch said films as to what "they" are programming you towards. You watch a film like "Flags of our Fathers", it's obviously trying to get us to be more complacent towards war. It is product placement at it's best, the use of psychological manipulation at it's best. The word manipulation is used a lot in this blog, because unfortunately I see it everywhere I look. There are few shows, whether we're talking about movies, television, walking around Wal-Mart, etc. Where I don't feel like I'm being manipulated into something... We're constantly being broken down by advertising, it is like a war of propaganda every time we leave our houses. I have no solution to this problem, I simply wanted to point out what I've noticed...

good blog, i feel that way too. i think the greeks called it catharsis, (or purging of emotion) today its called like you said manipulation. abraham mosely and his heirarchy of needs is what i see in entertainment these days, they give people what they need or think they need in entertainment then brainwash and repeat the cycle. one solution is read books, who has the time anymore when there is so much tv and movies to go to...wait maybe thats what all this is keeping us from...being educated...good stuff!
ReplyDeletesorry my bad i meant abraham maslow......not mosley...damn movies!
